Overview

A kick counter you can use without unlocking your phone

Most kick counts happen lying down in the evening, often in the dark. Kicklet puts a Kick button on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you tap once for every movement while the count and the timer keep running.

How to count baby kicks

Many midwives and doctors suggest a daily movement count from around week 28. A simple way to do it:

  1. Pick a time when your baby is usually active, often after a meal or in the evening.
  2. Lie on your side or sit comfortably and focus on your baby's movements.
  3. Count every kick, roll, swish or flutter until you reach 10. Hiccups don't count.
  4. Note how long it took. Over a few days you learn what's normal for your baby.

Kicklet times every session, shows how long your baby usually takes to reach 10 and gently points out when a count takes longer than usual. If you notice fewer movements or a change in your baby's pattern, call your midwife, doctor or hospital right away. Don't wait until the next day.

A contraction timer with the 5-1-1 rule

The 5-1-1 rule is a common guideline for when to head to the hospital: contractions about 5 minutes apart, each lasting about 1 minute, for at least 1 hour. Some providers use 4-1-1 or 3-1-1 instead, and Kicklet supports all three.

  • One tap to start and stop each contraction
  • Length, time apart and contractions in the last hour, calculated for you
  • A go-rule bar that fills as your pattern holds, and an alert when it's time to call
  • A slow breathing guide while each contraction runs

Always follow your own provider's advice. Call right away if your water breaks, you have bleeding, or your baby is moving less.

Ready for the big day

  • Hospital bag checklist for you, your baby, your partner and your documents
  • One-tap calls to your hospital and your partner
  • A "when to call" guide for the signs that mean pick up the phone now
  • A PDF report of kicks and contractions to share at your checkups
